Let's take in this instance the Mad Max scene at 21.45 when the War Boy throws a Spear, and the Storm scene at 27 minutes when the vehicle is thrown out.

I set the 2 ceiling speakers as "Top front" (Height 1) and 2 rears as "Rear Dolby Enabled Speakers" (Height 2). So, I disconnected all but just the 2 ceiling speakers and 2 rear heights so that I can isolate the "Atmos sounds" in either configuration. The sounds seemed to be more pronounced for over the head effects. While experimenting between the two configurations, I noticed a stark difference between the 7.1.2 vs 5.1.4, with the 7.1.2 providing better "Atmos sound". I was experimenting a couple of Blu-ray movies with Dolby Atmos sound (Mad Max Fury Road, Mission Impossible Fallout and Everest) in 7.1.2 configuration as well as 5.1.4 configuration, with the receiver set to Dolby Atmos sound mode. I also upgraded to Onkyo NR787 9.2 receiver.

The rear speakers are mounted higher than the side surrounds, so as to be rear height channels. I recently installed a 7.1 speaker system (Onkyo HT993THX) with 2 ceiling mounted speakers to run Atmos.
